Humanities teach students to think. Where would we be without them? Post in Guardian By Francine Prose . Posted 12/05/2017. Assessed 5/12/2019 The article tells us about humanities. Humanities are academic disciplines that learn aspects of human society and culture. The author pointed out that there is a plan to eliminate several of the college’s well-regarded departments. He gives a lot of examples of protest against the decision. Francine Prose tried to explain how important humanity is. Although there is a decrease of studying humanities, these sciences make people to be creative, to learn foreign nation and culture, to know yourself.  First of all, people who learn humanities are more creative than techies. Such person is able to solve the problem in a completely new way. He adds just one original detail or absolutely change the concept of decision making. In communication creativity helps to overcome barriers and stereotypes. The humanity shows that t...

Post 7: essay 1

Essay 1 ( Article in Guardian ) By Oliver Milman. Posted 23.09.2019 Assessed 1.12.2019 I have chosen an article called “Greta Thunberg condemns world leaders in emotional speech at UN”  The first reason for my choice is Greta Thunberg. She is really extraordinary child, who has a drive to talk about the environment issue. I wondered how this little kid worried about serious climate problems.  Nowadays people can’t imagine their lives without plastic, because we use it probably every day. It makes our life convenient but we have to think about consequences. In comparison with enviroment in 50's, nature used to be in rather good conditions.  In the article Greta Thunberg emphasizes that modern people think only about money, they don’t bother about ecosystems at all. There is a climate crisis; it leads to disastrous heat waves, flooding, droughts etc.  The author points out that the activist has raised really important issue. As for me a br...

Post 6:Essay:Which methods are most effective at reducing bullying in schools?

Тhe topic of the essay was chosen from  Good Research Paper Topic   Sa rikas, C. (2018, Jule).   113 Great Research Paper Topics. Education. Which methods are most effective at reducing bullying in schools? Bullying is a slow and painful action when a person, who has more strong character, offend weaker person. As we know from TV series or from real life, practically every fifth suffer from bullying in silence. There are two types of people:bullies and leaders. Almost every person has to choose who he or she wants to be.  First of all I think a victim of harassment should tell to her close people. The parents always say to those children, that kids should just ignore it. Parents believe “leaders” stop to bully but it doesn’t just go away. These awful people keep doing such things as painting the locker, putting the footboard etc.  So the first measure to take is writing each situation of bullying and applying a statement to police. I suppose ...

Post 5: Possible essay topics

Possible essay topics 1) Which methods are most effective at reducing bullying in schools? First of all, the problem is spread not only in the U.S.A but also in other countries, where students don't know about real damage consequences of the bullying. The behaviour of the pupils depends on background and childhood. If you are self-confident and have a lot of friends, it isn't a problem to study at school, to attend classes, to have a meal. If we compare children who like solitude with those, we get, that bullying is a real problem and the government should face this problem. In my opinion, the school administration has to detailed the bullying as an issue. They need to have an open communication with students so that pupils will share about the experience.  2)How d oes stress affect the body? In our modern society, we have a lot of new technologies, that play a significant role in lives. Together with the benefits of modern life, we get great stress. Neverth...

post 4: My favourite resource

My favourite learning English resource In our modern world, we have to know more than one language because there are a lot of requirements for the university, job, etc.  As for me, I have been learning English since the second grade. I used to use books such as “ New English File”, “English Grammar” etc. Nowadays, we have a wonderful opportunity to use a big amount of resources. I would like to tell you about the website “TED”, which helps me to develop listening skills. TED    is a media organization, that posts a video about up-to-date issues. On the website, the user sees some insets, where he or she can follow the transcript, comments from author and other users. Due to the transcript, you will enlarge and pick up new vocabulary. If you want to choose a certain theme to learn, you should tell what interests and motivate you. Then you will get recommendations from the TED. Moreover, for convenience, TED has its own app for Androids and iOS. As for me, I check thi...

post 3: Room 101

ROOM 101 One of the most irritating things is pigeons. They don’t symbolize peace, they carry disease. Moreover, the majority of birds don’t even afraid of people. They become so arrogant to ask food or something else. Yesterday when I was going home, the pigeon flew in my direction and didn’t have time to take off.  Kind people feed them and birds’ population grows every day. As for other birds, I like innocuous sparrows. Instead of feeding pigeons, I recommend feeding sparrows.  Why don’t have every store worker such as a bagger? Especially in Russia, I would like to describe the situation. I want to buy a lot of food and other stuff. When I come to the cash desk, I have to pack all my purchases to package, and at the same time cashier requires the payment. I don’t have enough time and hands to do all this thing I live in rental apartments with my roommate. We communicate well, but one thing that annoys me so much is a dirty dish in the sink. I ask her ever...
